newbie question, but please answer
i just put in the underhood B&M fuel pressure gauge.. how do i read that thing again?
who do i tell what idle and WOT pressures are?
thanks for the patience.. i guess i never knew

Idle is easy - just start the car, let it warm up, and read the gauge while the car is idling. The other reading is called several things - WOT, static, atmospheric, etc - and is taken by reading the gauge after disconnecting the vacuum line to your fuel pressure regulator while the engine is still idling - you will probably notice the engine idle a little different because the fuel pressure will jump up from idle FP. That's all there is to it - don't forget to reconnect the vac line when you're done

well, look at the gauge and see what number the pointer points to. If the car is idling, that is your idle reading, should be about 43psi stock. You really cant tell wot since that would require you to get on the car with the engine under a load. you would need a remote gauge.
ok, something is seriously wrong with my install... i am just under 80 when the car is idling. when i shut the car off, it's @ 40.
hmmm... guess i need to go back and do it all over again. i thought i put it in right, could i over torque the bolts to cause the miss reading? i torqued it down to 16lbs-ft but after i touched the bolt & washer, there was some fuel on it so i torqued it down some more.
also, i'm running an aftermarket fuel pump and 270cc injectors.

I suppose that's POSSIBLE with an aftermarket pump... if the pump is big enough it will flow more fuel than the factory FPR is designed for and cause ridiculously high idle fuel pressures. Check out the endyn site to see how to modify your FPR to relieve some of that pressure.
well, i tried to fix some things, but now when i start up the car and idle it, the gauge bounces back very rapidly between 50 and 80psi.
any ideas?????

I have the B&M gauge and the stock regulator with a 12:1 Vortech FMU and a stock pump.
My gauge jumps a little, but not that much. It sits at 30-35 psi at idle and 40 psi with the vacuum disconnected.
I also removed the backflow preventer from the rail and used AN hose to replace the banjo fitting on the filter.
All this was to increase flow.
I will be installing a BBK 110lph pump to help with my low fuel pressure problems. The stock pump can't get better than 65 psi.
All things condidered, i did get some jumping of the needle no matter what I did.
