Default New turbo, sale pricing, which one help!

there is a sale for precision turbos going in the 500ish range I am using a B16a motor stock internally other than gsr cams/arp studs. a cast log manifold. emusa 350HP cooler, ebay piping. tial 38mm running 7lbs right now at 230whp on an ebay t3t4. there are two journal bearing turbos im after.

goal is atleast 300whp-340

future plans for 4-450 (built)

I need to decide whether i should use a 470HP turbocharger or a 375HP turbocharger. and the pros or cons of each one on this years current goal.

the 4831B, (AR suggestions?)
http://www.precisionturbo.net/turboc...ger---4831B/55

or 3254E (same question)
http://www.precisionturbo.net/turboc...er---3254E/473

other suggestions??

I could really use some advice on this one

Just remember, those are crank HP ratings for those turbos. So subtract about 15%-20% for what they are really capable of.

exactly whats streaming my mind i read somewhere around 300-310Whp is more like 390HP! but more like 360ish and i dont want to be at max!

3254E does anyone running that and knows how it responds? Ill need to just cruise to the tuner im hoping for more power on less boost with the gsr cams, this turbo, and a more "lean"ient tune

if its making you iffy on running that size turbo then ur safest an smart way to do is to build the motor. Why do two build an waste alote of money in the long run just do it once an call it a day an run your 450 goal. Save alot of money in the long run an you will know ur car can handle with out worry. I did what ur planning on doing a simple bolt on kit an my motor went an went hard. Had to rebuild top to bottom trust me its better to do it. It cost me a bunch more in the long run for just a bolt up stock. Im running a t3/t4 50 trim turbo an it kicked my motors ***. On only 8lbs

Did you maintain it well and tuned ? I've ran the b16 dozens and dozens of times. On 7 or 10lbs. And sprayed 3 bottles through it as well. More detail on motor history before during and after boost ?

It's all in choice the way you build I can't have 450 till the car is more built and planned right. For now what's on there can reach my goals other than the turbo.

If there is another suggestion available that is good for honda motors lmk!

Calm down when posting... your posts are so scattered I can't make sense of them.

If your goal is for 450 once you get the motor built then get the bigger turbo... no need to buy things twice.

The only reason I'm using two different turbos for my stock and built motors (theshodan can attest to this) is because I have roughly 30 turbos laying around and since I'm not using a standard/typical turbo for a Honda setup I'm doing a lot of testing. I.e. exhaust back pressure,4 egt and lambda sensors, pre and post intercooler temps ..

I'm still thinkin about eBay gt30/35r lol. But I guess the precision and an oil restrictor should make me happy for a couple bucks more.

Other than that I'm in for aftermarket mounts drag coils and 22"mt's

Let's put it this way, I have 1 turbo worth 25,000

Don't go eBay... for the small difference in price get a precision. (While not my first choice precision is better than eBay)

Haven't read so many great things about their units either. I put 10-15000km on the eBay one and its still working. Hopefully I end up with somethin nice anyway

I know a bunch of guys running precisions. Be it the smaller ones...nothing bigger than a 6262....only know of one who had an issue. Havent really thought about it till now tho

In all due fairness, its the larger ones that are suffering from major issues. The smaller ones seem to survive a bit better.

I still say, keep it easy, go Garrett or Borg-Warner or Turbonetics

Thats interesting. And thats why i said that they were running the smaller ones cause i know most honda guys go with something bigger. And the above 3 are all win

I've seen numerous random bearing failures in the 6262s alone..., and anytime someone sends a turbo to them they always say oil contamination to get out of repairing/ replacing the turbo

That's true. The failures on the 6262 are for a different reason than the compressor wheel flex that the larger ones suffer at higher boost pressures.

I would assume the flex is from the hub profile of the compressor wheel, diameter of turbine shaft combined potentially with the length it protrudes past the thrust bearing?
