I've heard regular oil tends to cake up in the turbo a lot easier. So set turbo timer longer? I guess. and change oil more often.

Synthetic holds its properties better under heat and all that stuff it goes through.

You can use regular oil, but synethtic is prefered.

Put it this way, If I missed an oil change for a good lenght of time, I'd be a lot more worried if I didn't have synthetic.

I'd run synthetic from the beginning too. Unless your engine was rebuilt, and because of the rebuilt engne not the turbo.

The only time NOT to use synthetic is when you're breaking in a new engine.

Synthetic lubricants are superior to natural for turbo use because they WILL NOT coke up in the bearings of a turbo under high temperatures since the compounds that cause coking are natural and are not present in a true synthetic oil.

One other note: Mobil 1 is the ONLY true synthetic oil from a major manufacturer available - other "synthetics" are laboratory-modified dino-oil but Mobil 1 is a truly synthesized product.
