sigh.

I just broke in a fresh engine 2 weeks ago like so.

put in brad penn break in oil. Cranked engine...let engine run for 30 minutes revving it a little and playing around with the idle.

drained, changed filter

next day, race event running low 10's with ease right off the start, revving to 10k.

I always do this.

is this engine for racing or street driving? Engines break in within the first 10 minutes or so, and when you run them hard they break in within the first 1-2 minutes IMO. I used to do the whole few hundred miles thing like 6 years ago and really got more smoke that way and wasted my time lol.

SPOOLINmatt, it is a street driven car. Honestly, I never heard of this Brad Penn break-in oil...wow. Does this method work for all types of engines in terms of reliability since this is a street car? Also I don't have a fully built motor / race motor - I just built the bottom end with Mahle 9:1, Eagle Rods and new oem bearings (turbo h22a) ...

I just searched on the net and came across quite a few people using the Brad Penn break-in oil and did not find one negative comment...

Talked to tuner and told him about the above method (which I like) and he said it would work out great, so I will be using this method - I will let you guys know how it turns out when I am done breaking in...

Thanks everyone for your input!

Ok I did SpoolinMatt's method and it worked out great That Brad Penn oil is impossible to find locally though :S Oh and btw before anyone goes and try this method, remember that my car was ALREADY TUNED before this and obviously I was out of boost in my garage...it's going straight to the dyno for a re-tune before any serious driving! Basically I'm sayin his method for the actual break-in worked out well

This is why its currently in the garage No Spoolinmatt, I did not do any full power pulls during the first session with the brad penn oil cos I am waiting to take it to the dyno and get it re-tuned for more boost although, once it warmed up the AFR was pretty much the same as it was before the build but like I said, its goin on a trailer to the dyno in a short while
