Anyone hear of the new torque specs ARP has issued on their headstuds? I blew my hg a few weeks ago because cometic is gay and when i called Mike atKingmotorsports he told me about it. ARP now recommends their studs be torqued to 82 ft-lbs. 3-4 stepped up to that amount of course. Again this is all coming from what i heard at king. I now have an OEM gasket in there with my old studs now torqued to 82 ft-lbs and no problems. Just wondering if anyone has heard this.
The new Cometic HG shouldn't give you any problems. Their older material and insane tickness they offered was BAD. Have used newer Cometic(stock thickness) vs. OEM Honda and found they both work well.
BTW you should've always torqued your ARP head studs to at least near 82 ft-lbs anyways to begin with.

All three kits I have used in the past two days, which are all "newer" kits, have had sheets stating torque at 80 ft/lbs with ARP Molylube & 85 ft/lbs with 30WT Oil, with a 3-Step Sequence.
Damn. I just installed ARP headstuds and torqued them to 70 ft lbs like the manual said. Do I need to rip the head off and retorque them??

You don't have to take the head off to retorque headstuds. You need to take the cams out.....

The cometic gasket was definately blown, both the head and block are still within spec to honda as far as warpage. I followed procedure to the ARP instructions when i installed them two years ago and they weren't asking for the studs to be torqued to 82 ft lbs back then; now they are. I was just asking if anyone else new of this yet. Mine are now torqued at 82 ft lbs with a oem gasket and it's working well. Some people have good luck with cometic some don't...personally i won't be going back to them.

Yeah I don't why I said that. I think I'm gonna leave it and see what happens.
