Default Need some advice and some knowledge

Ok so I have been doing some reading and research about forced induction and I have a couple questions regarding my b18b. I want forced induction on stock internals which from what i've read can hold up to 250hp ish. My goal is less than that I'm looking for 200hp. For questions A. Can i run a big 16g on pump gas leaving cr alone? B. Cheap ram horns w/wrap ok for such a low hp build if not then log? C. Is a girdle and block guard needed if reliability is my main factor? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes you can run a 16g
Run whatever manifold you want, shorter is better for spool (log)
No you don't need either a block guard or girdle.

Look up the turbo ls thread. I remember seeing someone around here running a 16g doing 11's in the 1/4 mile

dont run an ebay ram horn. every one ive ever seen in person has broken. you are better off buying used name brand manifold.

ls motor will be great on boost. wont make gobs of power but thats not your stated goal. with the lower compression of that motor compared to a vtec motor there is lots of room for error/ it will be pretty forgiving in case of lean condition or who knows what could happen.

dont forget an aftermarket clutch!

My set up

T3t4 60 trim ar 63
Wiseco 9.1
Eagle rods
Arp head studs
Rc1000
Walbro fuel pump
Etc etc

I have a drag log manifold i start spooling at around hmmm 2800/3000 rpm and in full boost by like 4500 rpm

I made only 210 hp and 220 torque on 9 psi

Its in a full interior da and its gobbs of fun.

210whp/220 tq is not a slow rig

Other members seem to have given you great advice. By reliability being a 'main' factor, Most turbo builds do not go as planned, especially if it's your first build. One thing cracks, One seal leaks, One part doesn't work right. Hours of tuning, hotter temperatures, more stress on the engine. Something will break. Its just a matter of time.

And is this your DD? Are you prepared to watch it sit in the garage for a weekend because something went wrong and you can't get the part until Monday? Do you have an extra ride? Reliability and aftermarket turbo's don't necessarily go to well. Haha,

Lots of fun, more power, but never quite the reliability of a good ole stock engine. But hell, sometimes when it's stock i'd rather just break it anyways to have a reason to upgrade. Goodluck

I was thinking redoing gaskets and bearings. Do you think the eagle rods and rc1000 injectors where a good investment? I was thinking 450 injectors, stock pump nd rods. Btw 220 lbf_ft that's awesome dude haha @ what rpm?

you dont need 1000cc injectors...450cc would get you to 200whp....do your research, ther are alot of ls turbo guys on here....I made 269whp (mustang dyno) on a 300,000 mile engine.... must have's: better clutch, walbro 255, injectors, wideband, management (s300, chrome, etc) and a good tune!
