Adding Turbo Kit To 94 Honda Civic EX Vtec(D-Series)
Hey guys, had a few questions and hopefully you guys can help! I just ordered a turbo kit (Link is below) and a few extra parts and hopefully it will all fit right (With a little modification of course).
Little List Of Ordered Parts
------------------------------------
- Treadstone Turbo Kit
-GReddy BOV
- DW 750cc injectors (OVERKILL)
- DW 301 fuel pump
- A'PEXi Super AFC NEO Fuel Computer
- AEM Electronics Wideband Failsafe Gauge
Paid around $3,600.00 so far
---------------------------------------------
So main question(s) are...
1.) What else do I need, what don't I need?
2.) What would be estimated install time?
3.) Is it worth adding turbo to D series vtec motor?
4.) How many PSI of turbo should I run (This is sort of my daily driver)
5.) Did I get terribly ripped off?
Thanks guys, please explain to me if you reply of why you feel the way you do it helps me understand better!!!
Thanks again!

What he means to say, young blood, is that the AFC NEO will not be enough to get this thing tuned correctly to drive everyday with the injectors and other equipment you have , even though it was part of the kit.. ANY good management is going to cost you some cash, so start getting a few extra hours where you work to get money.
In addition, you still need a full exhaust, as yes, Downpipe = cops, bad tune and noxious fumes making the car sound like crap.
You also didn't get a clutch to work with that, nor better plugs or any place to actually TUNE the car, as that is $600 alone..
so you've just hit the tip of the iceberg with your ... Kit.

to me honest! yeah you did screw yourself there, i was 21 when i first bought that kit, thinking about it now it definitely not worth it. when the second time came around i was able to piece together a better kit for the same price.
what you will need is a better management i have always love hondata s300, first management i ever got and i have never look back, also a fuel pump and you should be pretty much set to go, and by the way it not an open downpipe with that kit, you just have to weld the pipe and flange they provide you with.

Spending a little extra money up front on a good EMS will avoid much costlier repairs/retunes down the line. Seriously, if you're strapped for cash, dont even entertain the idea of boosting...it will end badly. If you dont believe me, check the marketplace and count the number of turbo setups that are being parted out not long after they were installed

That's a recipe for disaster. WHEN something goes wrong, not if, how do you plan to fix it? If you have no money left as a contingency plan, I hope you have a good pair of shoes...you'll need 'em to walk everywhere once your car breaks down.

Just ordered a AEM FIC 6 for the tuning part, hopefully that will help a bit.

Why do people stat there status like age and if they're in college and what to turbo there vehicle? It's not going to make a difference if it'll work or not. You need to have a steady flow of income when it comes to turboing a Honda. Things can happen and it can be costly.

Yeah man just figured this out, defiantly already blew past my 5k budget... I believe I am already around 9k and it is not even installed or sitting at my house yet... Still on a damn truck most likely in japan. Lol, but I guess we will see where this leads, had to order more "Tuning parts" to avoid future problems that people in this thread had suggested me to do.
But thanks for the reply.

No, I ordered better fuel supply and went ahead and did pistons, rods, rings, and a stage 3 clutch. And you know a "Turbo" sticker to add that other 100hp

Re: Adding Turbo Kit To 94 Honda Civic EX Vtec(D-Series)
you need real engine management. the AFC wont allow you to tune anything but the fuel side and it doesn't have enough adustment to run 750s. plus the stock ecu cannot see positive pressure at the map sensor. it'll go nuts. plus if you have to run more than 10psi you'll have to change map sensors which the OEM ecu can't use
plus tuning a turbo car is really all about the ignition side of tuning. something you can't do with an AFC
sell it and at the very least get a chipped p28 or p72 ecu and run crome, Neptune, or an S300
