Default Need Pictures Of Cut Block Webbing

I want to go ahead and cut my webbing on my block this weekend and would like to see how much people had to take off. I will basically be using a drag kit. Just looking to knock out as much stuff as possible before the actual turbo install day comes along.

U dont need to notch the block for a drag 3 kit.

Some people said they had to. Are you sure? I'm not running a complete drag kit either I have a max-rev manifold, I dont know if it will make a difference though.

I had a drag 3 kit on and my block was never motched, and drag wouldnst sell a kit that needed that kinda modification to fit.

i have the drag manifold also i had to cut about an inch off cant even put a filter on the turbo theres no space

you guys that are notching probably are putting the turbo on the opposite way it was intended to be.

Here is my notched block pic taken while installing my DRAG3 kit. If you dont notch the block it is impossible for the turbo to fit unless you run it the opposite direction making buying the kit useless. At least this is how it was on my B16.

Thank you Treblarefils. That is a perfect picture. I'm just going to go ahead and notch mine. Seems like most people had to do it to theirs.

anyone do it on a b18? does it differ from a b16?...well anyway b16aef(drag kit seller in the FI classifieds) said that all b series needed it...i wonder why some of you guys got it to fit...im going to be in the process within 2 weeks

its possible on a smaller turbo you might not need to do it. But the drag manifolds are supposed to be AC compatible so they have to bring the whole assembly manifold and turbo closer to the bolck to fit AC. Thats why you need to cut on most setups. Depends on the turbo you are running. With the maxrev manifold, you shouldn't have to notch anything though.

My drag gen 3 kit came with a t3/t04b for some reason, and I definately did not have to notch anything with that turbo (even w/ the drag manifold). The compressor is smaller than an e.

i have a b18b with a drag kit and t3/t04e, no notching here. but my cousin runs the same kit with a b16 and he had to notch his block

seems like i remember someone saying that the "e" housing had to be trimmed, and the "b" housing did not. (could be the other way around, but i'm almost sure it had to do w/ the actual housing)

yeah i played wid it before also,to4bs fit fine or with minimal grinding, to4es notch it, it fits though, just gotta notch it.

oh an i found the solution to that filter fitment problem
90 degree elbow 3 inch or so depending on the turbo.
i got it and fit it together, never used it though, i change my stuff around alot.

I got that same type of elbow at home dept for $5.XX. My compressor housing is on the other side but I still need it to make a filter fit.

Its kinda dumb to just start cutting without having the parts to test fit. why not install your fuel/engine managment, gauges, wideband, exhaust, clutch etc...while you wait.

You can only install it one way if you are useing the drag DP. If you go custom then your all good, but wont be able to keep your AC.

Revhard manifold with SC34E

I only had to shave maybe 1/4" off. And I made it real smooth with a dremel.


Heres the clearance afterwards.
