i have been hearing about this "missing link". What the hell is a missing link? And why are so many people using it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt a missing link jsut some device that some company made so the computer wont read boost? If thats the case then why dont you just use a couple of whisper2000 check valves from your local pet store. Why spend $65 dollars when you can get the same thing with 20 dollars at most. ($2.50 per check valve at a pet store) and a dollar something for a couple of T's.

Would you rather have couple of plastic valves controlling your investments? Or would you rather have a metal encased missing link bypass? Besides it's suppose to be smoother in the transition.

smoother transition? what thats suppose to mean? Check valves does the same damm thing as the missing link, and i hear some people are having problems with the missing link. Just cause it has some metal casing doesnt mean its works better. hahahah.. Missing link is a check valve inclosed in some fancy metal casing. But its up to you. Pay 70 dollars for some metal casing or a 10 dollars for something that does the same damm thing.. Up to you, its your money.

to me the missing link was just a cleaner alternative to messy check valves ive seen some real nasty looking check valve installs

The cheapo aquarium check valves do not handle boost or engine temps too well. I have had them fail.

They also do not like to stay attached to vacuum lines.... Ever had your vacuum lines fall off your cheapie check valves while driving? It's great to have your car not run and have to get out and fix it.

well its all about the install on the check valves. What i do is:

I tee off the vac line before the map sensor and put 3 check valves in. then I zip tie those check valves in. (so they dont fall out). Call me ghetto, but I rather waste my money on other things.

If you cannot find a Missing Link, simply buy an aluminum industrial strength check-valve from Earl's Fittings.

I don't connect any "missing link" or check valves to my map sensor at all. I just have this nifty little device called a ClampLink which sends the real map signal to my Link ECU, and sends a modified 0 vaccuum signal to my stock ECU so that it knows that its at full throttle, but doesn't see boost. That works better than ANYTHING else mentioned above. And i'd like to see how check valves are able to handle high boost (anything over 1 bar)

Check valves wont handle high boost over 1 bar. But then again why would you use a stock ecu running over 1 bar? Running over 1 bar I would use a standalone or a piggy back ecu with a 3 bar map sensor .

That's what I am running, a piggyback computer, the Link ECU, which controls my ignition timing, boost, VTEC (even though I don't need to adjust this, stock setting is best, especially on a SOHC VTEC engine) and additional fuel injectors. And I use it with the stock ECU. Its fast, and its reliable. It even improved my fuel consumption. Probably because the piggyback only works when it detects boost (there is a built-in 3bar map sensor inside the piggyback ECU, which I must connect a vacuum hose to). I don't use a regulator either. Stock main fuel injectors, with 4 additional B18C fuel injectors welded into my intake pipes. No worries.
