Default need help turboing an R???????

i know this is prob. been asked 1000 times but, i am consitering buying a turbo kit for my 2000 itr with 15k on it. i have no mods. but am getting a new cluch because i drive th car pretty hard. i am wondering what i need to do(parts and upkeep)to run boost safely in my car. whatever it takes i will do, and i also need to know EVERY part that i will need, only 5 pounds for right now till i get more money to build the motor up. also would it be better to get a custom kit built or buy like a drag or rev hard kit.
thanks guys.

since you dont know what you're doing, go for a complete kit like drag or rev hard. make sure you get the tial wastegate over the deltagate. for 5 pounds you dont need to change anything, you should be fine (someone correct me if i'm wrong). as for your clutch, if you're going to go turbo, you might as well get an ACT or something. don't go OEM. everything yyou will need will come in the drag kit

to tell you the truth, do alot of research. you can find questions to almost everything you have asked if you use the search button.

but to help you out, just get a drag 3 kit and run everything that comes w/ the kit. upgrade to a tial 35 mm wastegate and get the 4.5 psi spring if you wanna run close to 5 lbs. use the 12:1 fmu that comes w/ the kit and use the inline fuel pump that it comes w/ as well and you should be safe. as for the blockguard, i personally wouldnt get one, but its your money.

well i have a jdm itr motor... higher compression then teh US ones and here is wat i have learned so far...

to boost safely 6 psi.

get the drag gen 3 kit
get the 35 mm tial like eveyrone said b/c boost creep will be bad
get the apexi vafc and do the hack trick a.k.a poor mans hondata
get some DSM 450cc injectors
get the honda 91- 93 crx resistor box a.k.a black box

and ur set to boost 5 psi safely. also to my understandings and study, hondata is not worth your money if ur only planing to boost 5 psi correct me if i;m wrong guys. plus there's really no tuning involved.

it's also recommended to upgrade the oil lines but then again i'm unsure if this is personal pref or not.

Since when are these kits 'complete'...there is no such thing as a complete kit dude...you'll always have to buy somthing afterwards to make it run right...

well what else would i have to buy, and if i have to get a standalone i will. it doesnt matter how much it will cost me as long as it is done right. i know a place buy me, JOHN BROWN RACING, said they would build me a custom kit for 5000. well thanks guys, but still unsure wither or not to boost or go all motor.

You'd better know what you're getting for 5 large because that's a lot of dough. To think of the things I could do to a Honda with 5k...mmmmmm yummy.

I am running 7psi with my 00 Type R. I have a custom kit, but fuel managment is key. Also having run into the problem on the dyno today. My cam gears were off by a little bit and just letting boost flow out. I got adjustable cam gears because of the overlap of our motors. Hopefully when this kink is worked out I will run 250whp or more. Car runs strong and A/F ratio is 12:1 all the way to 8000rpms. Good luck with your decision. Boost owns. Once you got it you wont know how you lived without it.

I'm doing a custom turbo kit on my '01 Type R as we speak. This will be my 3rd boosted Honda and I can't wait untill it's done. I'm at a financial standstill and all I need is a wastegate and she will be ready to start I only have 8,000 miles on the car so far. I'm going ghetto and running a Vortech 12:1 FMU, Accel(I think) inline fuel pump, and the missing link w/ stock bottom end. I don't forsee any problems with this setup at all, I won't boost more then maybe 6.5 PSI with this setup and will run 93 octane gas. I'll post all the info I can as soon as it's done anr running.

My drag III kit for an ITR is for sale. Its about as complete as it gets...all you have to do is some minor cutting and tugging here and there, other wise you shouldnt have to buy anything else unless you want to.

check for the post by my name.
