Default need help with turbo setup d16.

hey i would like to make around 350ish whp and tq dosent matter.
but i was wondering if i could do this with Vitara Pistons and stock rods or that isnt reconmended? and what rods do you reconmend, i want to keep the compression ratio relativeley low. also what company makes cams for the d16 i cant find any.

the turbo right now is up in the air i just want to get the motor built first but im thinking a .60/.63 or along those lines maybe for starters a td05h turbo, i already have a turbo kit lined up from a friend from greddy with a emanage.

i know i need feul pump management and all that i can figure that out just not what these motors can take

For 350 wheel on a single cam you're going to want to use forged rods. Stock rods won't last very long, if they last at all. Alot of people use Golden Eagle rods, but Im sure there are other companies that make them.

Crane makes cams for D16s, Im sure Skunk2 and those companies make them as well, but I didn't do much searching.

Its hard to say, It may be as long as three months, but they're likely to break the first time you hit the gas.

okay i found out that the rods could handle 250whp
what is with the ls rods how much power will they support or should i fork out the money for eagle rods and about how much modification to the block is neccesary?

ok u need rods... stock rods can take quite a bit of power but the first time u detonate at high boost they will bend or break. i had crower rods in my d16 and it was 420 whp.. get some rods and pistons and you can hit 350 with stock head/cam..

did you have to make any mods to the block for the bc rods?
also would i still be able to run a low compression with these rods so i can still use 92 octane or should i do meth injection with a 9:1 cr?

this will be my on off dd

vitaras are good for budget boost, but stock rods will not last. eagle or scat rods for your setup can be insurance for you setup, also there not that expensive, i just picked up a set of vitaras, and scat rods shipped from puerto rico for $300 new. do your homework first and dont stock stock rods on a boosted block......

okay for the tuning part of things will i need like a full out hondata or something or would wideband work fairly well?

im not exactly sure i never turbo'd a vehicle that didnt come turbo stock but i know on the last few cars i did up the boost that a wideband was sufficient but now i think i need the ignition management and all that shaz? and probly something a 17 year old shouldnt touch either?
im just trying to figre out now how it should be tuned and would it be neccesary to dyno it? were i live there are no shops close, the closest being saskatoon(6-7hrs away)

how hard is it to tune anyways? i know how to work with wideband controllers and fuel management shouldnt be a problem on that end, im sure if i just retard the timming enough and have adequate fuel im not going to blow anything up?

This is going to be your best option for budget D16 engine parts:

http://www.fjdistributors.com/

This is likely the place the guy who posted above got his parts, as he is based in Puerto Rico.

Depending on who you ask, stock D rods are good anywhere from 200-250whp. I personally wouldnt go over 220 on them. As stated before, an Eagle/Vitara setup or something similar will get you to your goals. As far as block prep, you may want to get your cylinders honed, although it may not need it.

And youll need to notch your block for the larger rods, but its fairly simple and there are writeups all over the place for it. Check d-series.org if you dont find anything here. I may have some things you are looking for. PM me on d-series.org under the same name. I dont have enough posts to sell on this forum, but have plenty of vouches on d-series.

Because of the very low compression they yield
