Default Need help pulling engine codes

I have a 99 civic SI oblvousbly obd2 but i have a 92-95 jdm b16a obd1 motor in the car along with a p30 ecu with crome i have the jumper between harness and ecu to make that swap work. My question is my car is in limp mode and it wont let me rev past 3500 rpms and i have a check engine light on. I tryed putting a paper clip in the service plug near the ecu kick panel and than I put the car in the on position ( not starting up just on ) the CEL light just stays lit it dosent flash or anything ? dose anyone know why this is ? considering it's and obd2 car can i use a scanner to check them or will it not work due to haveing a obd1 ecu ? i need help about to get the car tuned i just need to fix this problem and i can get the computer to throw any codes ? I know my knock sesnor isn't hooked up but i dont think this would cause limp mode how do i pull the codes and why isn't the service plug working ?

Is the ecu chipped, with a removeable, ie tunable chip. Or is this getting done when you tune it. A solid light means bad ecu. Which, if it is chipped, can mean bad chip, no tune/basemap on the chip and so on.

it's a freshly built motor not tune maybe 10 miles on the motor the ecu is chipped with crome I want to get it tuned very soon I had my car at a shop and i pulled it out of there b/c i got ripped off bad from them theres no tune and i dont know if there is even a basemap. So how do i correct this just bring the car to get tuned and if it's b/c of no tune or base map my new tuner will take car of that for me. Or do i go somewere and get a base map set up i dont know what to do.. There also is a vfac that i havent removed yet if that matters ?

i guess my questions is can i get it tuned and fix the problems or do i need to fix the problem first before tune. I'm not sure what direction to turn to

Not really something you can figure out on the internet. How close is the place your going to get a tune at? I'd take the computer to them and have them check it out for you. There may not even be a chip in there. You can't check for a map unless you have a chip burner/reader. So your likely out of luck there.

well i have 2 p30 ecu one thats not chipped just lieing around and one that is chipped which is in the car and i opend up both covers and i can see the chip in the ecu so i'm 99 percent postive the chips is in there. There are a couple dyno shops around my area (CT) but none that really specialse in hondas that i know of . I planed on brining my car to new york to get tuned so the place is about an hour and a half away althos like i said there are some shops that do hondas 15 - 30 minuts away. So you think a ride to New york or a local shop is my best bet ? IF so what do i ask when i get there to check if theres a map and if not than get one or just get it dynoed / tuned ?

if its got a solid cel even when you jump the service connector that means it has a bad burn on the chip and thats why its in limp mode. im in CT and if youre willing to drive up to plainville/southington arean i can burn you a new chip.

although your best bet would be to put the stock unchipped P30 in and a set of stock injectors so you cn drive the car normally.

If you go to one of the shops, bring the ecu, or at least the chip, tell them what your setup is and see if they can get you a basemap on it. If you still have the stock injectors in, then like coreyR said, use that computer and see if it's better. Assuming it is, stay out of boost, and get it tuned. If you get a basemap, and don't have a wideband in the car, stay out of boost also, and get it tuned
