Default Need help picking a turbo

I am trying to decide on what new turbo to get. I am currently running a turbonetics t3/t4 60 trim turbo but its really worn out so its time for something new. I made 439 whp and 305 torque @ 19 psi with this turbo... i'm trying to get something that will peak out at around 500 ish whp and be really good for around 400 whp on the street. Just wondering what you guys would suggest.

Setup 81.5 mm 9:1 compression gsr motor

Thanks ahead of time

You should also look at the S258 or S362. Both will make good power with great spool.

I think the s258 would work great for your goals.

I would say an S258 or Silver Surfer if the budget is less than $1000

well one being cost... two being the extra hassle of running coolant lines which isnt that big of a deal i guess but still... and also i know ball bearing turbo's spool up faster and are more efficient but i mean even with my car @ 12 psi i have traction problems so having a faster spool up isnt my biggest concern.. i just want a decent turbo .. not looking for insane spool up or insane numbers

Thanks ^ I'm trying to keep my setup as clean as possible.. there really arent very many turbo setups that dont have vacuum and AN lines running all over the place.

Go with an SC61 although it will make well into the 500's I think its good for what you want. I've seen them here go for pretty cheap in great condition. I am also running a 60 trim and I am looking to upgrade to an SC61 but I need some more seat time and practice with what I have.

CLEAN engine bay!

what the hell, just go for it.

If I were in the market for a new turbo (aka, had the cash for a new turbo) I'd pick up a bullseye.

The way i see it, on a stock sleeve build, there's no reason to go completely overboard unless you want to crack a sleeve. Having said that, the SC61 and GT35r are too big IMO. I would go with an S256/S258 or the Silver Surfer. Neither of those turbos are BB, but will still spool very quickly on your setup and make the power you desire. The S256/S258 are larger than the Silver Surfer so if top end power is your goal, they'd be the ones to chose.

You mean the SC60? The Silver surfer uses a larger exhaust wheel than the SC60, even with the same compressor wheel (60-1) and can use either 4 or 5 bolt exhaust housing. The Surfer also has better fitting compressor cover so that you don't need to notch the block. The surfer also has stainless steel polished exhaust and a polished compressor cover, so no rust will show. Better bang for the buck than the SC60.

4200rpms reached maximum pressure, as opposed to a few hundred rpms more with the larger cover. 11.9psi 346whp, w/o even breathing hard.

The Bullseye Power S360 is one of the best bangs for the buck. The turbo makes great power and spools very well. Not to mention the low cost of the unit.

Bullseye is #1 in my book!!! S360 would be great but I might suggest the S362. Everyone(including myself) have had nothing but great things to say about these units! Here is a link on H-T that may help you out if you haven't found it yet.

The S360 could work. It's a lot of turbo, but if its peak power you're looking for, then go right ahead.

Damn your car is making some pretty impressive numbers... I on the other hand dont think i am ever going to be making over 600 whp so could you just explain to me your reasoning for suggesting the s362 over the s360... again i appreciate all the input i am getting
