Need help deciding internals!!!
Hey everyone,
So im finally deciding to open up my motor to build it but i need some help...the car is currently a original 94 gsr integra with about 110k miles. The car currently has a cheap turbo kit with a little t3/t4 that i purchased the car with. The motor is basically bone stock except for the turbo kit, but i have gathered quite a few parts in the past month. I have already purchased a garret gt3076r 60trim turbo for it and all the bolt on's to get it running good. The only thing that i really need to change is the intercooler pipping because its pretty cheap but thats going to be taking care of this week.
But now as for building it i need some advice from people who actually have built turbo motors. I am not really looking to sleeve the motor because im on kind of a budget of $2000 left. My power goals are at least 400whp and the car will have a very good tune. But i want to know what kind/size pistons, rods, and everything else i would need to reach my goals? I was thinking 9:1 compression? Will i need to bore out the block? And how about the head? How much work will need to be done to handle that power? Also my last question is i currently have a log manifold...will i need to change this to ramhorn or something else? or will i be able to make that power with a log manifold for now? Thanks for any advice, opinions, or comments guys...

If you're on a budget, I'd look into eagle rods, and some type of piston, je, wiseco ect... Defiantly upgrade the manifold, it will be a lot easier to achieve your goals with a ram horn. You could bore it out or stay where your at, you can reach your goals with that bore size as is now.
As for the head, I'd look into a skunk2 head package ( pro 1's ) . And if the budget allows it, look into a edelbrock victor x intake manifold and a bigger throttle body.

Any Je, cp, with eagle rods. I would advise you go as small a bore as posibile. If you do a 81.25 bore there is more room for a rebuild later. I caught alot of flack for runnig a 82mm Je piston in my sleeved block and not running a 84mm. But I have alot more rebuilds left in my motor then they do. Stay away from skunk2 pro1 cams they are to big for your goal of 400 HP. A GSR, ITR,CTR, Or even a skunk2 Tunner 1's if you have the budget. Gsr's will get you to 400 no problem. As far as valve springs and retainers a supertech, or a rocket motor sports, are just as good as as skunk2 for less money. Get a 3" exhasut. If you have more questions pm me.

Take a look over at Evans-Tuning, they have a 'dyno library' that lists the cars' upgrades and shows the dyno sheet. They have almost every setup imaginable, which will give you a great idea what to expect.
The KEY thing is to bring your tuner a car w/o any issues. Get the basics covered (leaks, broken parts), then you're set for power.
FYI A Honda motor doesn't need a whole lot to make big power. Its not uncommon for a stock dohc vtec head to make >400 whp.
