just finished up my gsr/turbo build in my EK. Starting running it w/ an FMU and billet check valve on stock p28 ecu until i could get my ECU chipped. Well, it ran pretty damn strong....had some stuttering at around 5k RPM if i was only in at at 50% throttle, at WOT, that all cleared up. So my computer genius friend burns an EPROM for me, awesome program, ive seen it do 400 lb/tq on a stock GSR block. take off the FMU and check valve since the ECU is programmed to read boost, and now the car runs like crap. everytime it goes under boost, it just stutters and slows down. CAN SOMEONE HELP???? Any ideas???

 

Umm, why don't you tune your car? You can't just slap some generic chip in and think it will run your car great, you need to fine tune the chip to your specific setup, and I mean data-logging a/f ratio, rpm, egt, and boost and making appropriate changes in the fuel and timing maps. Look into getting an LM1 wide-band

BTW, your friend is not any type of genius.

 

thanks for your opinion....but....
the car that the program is from is the exact same set up that i have, except i have forged rods and pistons....it would be a good base line "tune" to get it running somewhat decent before i go and drop $125 on 3 dyno pulls.

any HELPFUL comments?

again, thanks, but i dont think its just a tuning issue. the program was written while tuning on a dyno, and pulls hard as hell in the other car....

does it sound like a symptom of anything else/???

 

we pulled the chip, and went back through...all was good there.

not to sound like an *** but isnt it kinda obvious that its the chip. if it ran fine without it.......try burning a new chip or get it on a dyno and see whats going on.
