Default Need educated imput from this forum for all motor vs FI topic

I'm interested in hearing from some of you veteran turbo guys in respect to a topic which we have going on in the All Motor forum. The general discussion revolves around a question that was asked:

"what would be faster in the 1/4 mile, a 200 whp all motor car or a 200 whp FI (turbo) car?

I realize at face value it sounds like bench racing but if you read the link you will see it is tech related: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1177969

I'm looking for some INFORMED input and don't want people to turn it into a bashing all motor vs FI debate. I can respect people choosing to do either and just need some useful info to help determine the validity of either side of the discussion.

PS- I would ask that everyone at least look through the link I provided to get a better idea about what each side of the discussion is about and what has been covered. Thanks

The FI will win if both engines are of the same brand and displacement. By using a small turbo you would generally get more early torque in the Rpm band, which mean more hp at a given rpm than a comparable n/a motor.

WHP set aside.. We need to look at WTQ figures to really see which would shine

i agree,

whoever has more torque in the powerband sooner should win.

but chances are IMO if i's 200WHP vs 200WHP. I would assume the FI woudl take the gold as you know thw torque curve can't quite be comapred to by an all motor at times.

It's all about the powerband, and a 200 WHP motor running off a 28RS or something similar like that is going to have a stellar powerband, with GOBS of torque coming on at 3000-3500 RPM's.
