Default need a definitive answer..

have posted in the integra forum but getting mixed answers.

ok...i have a 2001 gsr...with i/h/e....and a brand new xs-engineering turbo kit sitting in my room till spring comes

my exhaust is a hks hi-power unit with a 55mm (about 2.25 inch) piping to the canister.

am going to bost 7 psi and want to know of this is suitable enough...the downpipe is 2.5 inch stainless steel....running this exhaust with the kit will i experience nasty amounts of backpressure?
people saying i will...people saying i wont...i figured what better way to get a correct answer then the fi forum...which i will be more regularly posting in soon!
anyway...i love this exhaust..nice deep town...and very sneaky....is it a must to get a 3 inch exhaust for such a basic turbo setup? if i need a bigger exhaust...could i get a shop to do like 2.75 inch piping and mate it up to the muffler on the exhaust now? someone please help me out....im getting real confused and the thought of shelling out 700 for a apexi gt spec or a thermal r&d is giving me the chills right now...
all help is appreciated

You would make more power with a 3in exhaust but so would you if you ran more boost. If you are worried about the back pressure harming your engine it is very unlikely you will just lose a bit of power.

well to answer your question...you can do a comparison...try running open down pipe and then running with your exhaust system on...the differnce is night and day...

You will only feel the big differnce if you got your turbo kit on...

less back pressure is best for turbos...but i need to run my exhaust system since I don't want to go deaf...

ah there are a few people i have heard of making around 350whp on a 2.5 dp and exhaust. 3' sound more bitchin to say you have but damn it hangs down and dont even think of running over any road kill.
HAHAHA

no, because the piping leading into the canister is still 2.25.

dont **** the muff off and put it on a 2 3/4 exhaust just run ur exhaust until u build for alot more boost unless u want to run bigger.

I have 3" and 2 1/2 for my car i like the 2.5 for driving and the 3" for railing around. 2.5 is a crap load queiter 3" is well its loud.

Not much point if the thats going to restrict the flow again. If your going to replace I would go full 3 in ... You would pick up any power lost however just by running 8psi with your original exhaust...

so what exactly is "not a huge loss of power"....10hp? i spent a nice price on this exhaust for the quality and would hate to see it put to waste....

Yeah around 10 -15hp is all I would expect you to lose, unless theres a clooged cat in there somewhere.
