Default Need a crash course....Please help?

Could someone help me some questions. I have a LS motor in a 88 CRX HF. Now i'm new to this FI thing. I just would like to know some basics. What would be a good kit to start with? I've heard that turbos don't last very long, is this true? First off, I don't want to ruin my internals by pushing high boost. I'm thinking i'll be happy with 5~7lbs of boost Could some one recommend a good starter kit? Also whats the difference in turbos, T3, T4, T3/4 etc. I'm sorry if my questions seem of the wall, but I don't really know how to work into this except to jump in feet first. Help please?

start of with a basic kit revhard stage II or Drag Gen III or Fmax Each kit has its good features. All come with a t3/t4 hybrid turbo cahrger. As a former b18b specialist i would reccommend around 7psi with good downpipe and exhaust. that should net you right around 210hp. Turbo last as long as you maintain the oil in your system. Fresh oil good dirty oil bad. easy as that. t3 is smaller turbo that a t3/t4 hybrid and t4 is larger overall in exhaust housing and compressor housing. the hybrid uses a t3 exhaust with a t4 compressor. the t3 uses both the same housing and compressor. t3 will spool hella fast but you will lose top end. the t3/t4 is good starting point. most drag cars are utilizing the full t4

start of simple and keep it that way. Dont go crzy and do some stupid ****. Simple is good and you will be happy.

If you plan on just pushing from 5-7 PSI get a straight T3 with a 60 trim compressor side, and a .63 A/R hot side. This will spool up really well. The T3/T4 will probably not benefit you at this low of a boost. I know a guy who has the same setup as you and running 12.5 in the quarter. He's running 9 PSI though. He has a CRX, with an LS (stock bottom end), and a straight T3.

Sweet, thanx for the info guys. But i'm still not really sure what to do. I mean the t3/4 hybrid sounds good. But i'm not sure exactly what to do still, sorry for the nieveness, this is uncharted territory for me.

TurboludeSi: Do you know what kinda of kit your friend is running? Did he have to do custom work for his setup to fit? Sorry for all the ?s
