Default nauseous exhaust smell in car. any suggestions?

I have a '94 turbo GSR (Integra that is). Basic setup is Drag T3/T4 at 7 psi with a Deltagate ("open") wastegate, Vortec FMU, HKS BOV and intercooler. Anyway, ever since I got the car, it seems like whenever I stomp the gas or when I am shifting (and hearing the psshh of the BOV) I get an exhaust gas type smell in the car that is almost nauseous. Noticeable by passengers. Any suggestions on the source of this? I was wondering it it has anything to do with the wastegate being an "open wastegate" setup. Not sure exactly what this even means. I don't think it has to do w/ the BOV, because it is releasing fresh air into the atmosphere, not exhaust gas. Any ideas?

Open wastegate means the wastegate is venting to the atmosphere. Do you have a dumptube? It will most definitely cause the exhaust smell, especially with the Drag kit if youre still using the drag dump, since it doesnt dump low enough to expel the gasses from the engine bay, which will then just waft back into the cabin.

Totally normal.

yes, I figured this was why... the open wastegate that is. what is the best method for effectively/cheaply sending the exhaust gas in another direction?

Routed into your downpipe, or extend the dumptube to dump well outside of the engine bay.

i've always run an open wastegate, never really had an problems like that, that i know. except when coming to a stop after boosting. though to be honest, perhaps it's already killed one too many brain cells, now that i'm used to it.

if the problem persists, and tends to happen even while driving normally... i'd check for exhaust leaks. mainly around the manifold.
but if it's like you say, only when getting on it.... then yeah, it's just the wastegate barfing up the exhaust. just one of the many "perks" of a turbocharged car.

and doh, totally didn't realize your questions been been answer

I don't know if you have a weak stomach or if something else is wrong. I'm running the same kit with a open downpipe and can drive the car for hours on end with no problems. Yes I have the smell of gas and exhaust in the cabin but it's not that bad. I'd double check for a fuel leak if you installed a inline pump.
