There is also another book called "Turbochargeres" by HP Books, that is really, really good and it complements Corky's book very well. Where he leaves stuff out, the other book jumps right in, like turbo design and materials over the years, and diesels and stuff like that. I don't remember who the author is, but it doesn't matter because it's not even anywhere on the outside of the book.
All i'm gonna say is define your immediate goals with your car and know your own personality.
I.E. the same about of "effort" is going to go into a SC or turbo.
You have to know what you want.
are you the type of person that will be satisfied with a 2k$ price tag & a 14.0x slip?
or do you wanna spend 2.5k$ and have a 13.0x and still be able to expand from there?
I will say this, if you go SC & you run your car at the track or on the street you will get walked every now and then but if your turbo then the highway is your friend.
don't base your decision on the parts you have on your car now either, I can see myself doing something like that, just cuz you can take advantage of your I/H/E on a SC doesn't matter that much after everything is said & done.
