hello, well i have a garrett journal bearing turbo and i think something in it is bad. i can move the wheel in and out about 1/4 of an inch? and when i rev the car up is sounds like a loud burst of air coming out and boost wont build up causing the bov not to go off but maybe its a scretch noise idk. any ideas please?

if you can move the shaft in ANY direction with that amount of play it is bad.

 

time for rebuild or replacement

Shaft play is obviously a problem and you shouldn't run it anymore (Could end up shredding some **** and getting shavings in your motor). But what you are describing isn't necessarily just a turbo problem, it sounds like a massive boost leak to me, if a turbo is blown, you'll know by all the blue smoke pouring out the rear.

 

Also just revving the car will not build boost becuz the motor has no load, unless ur running antilag.
