My first boost project!
As my plans for last spring got shot down I am shooting for this spring. I want to boost my stock LS and I am looking for somewhere around 200whp. I would like to shoot for the high side of 200 but I want to be reliable. The b18a1 has 180,000 on it and it only smokes a little bit on start up. I am assuming this is due to valve seals. I am a full time student and only bring in about 80 to 100 bucks a week on a good week. My question for you is what should I use for turbo, manifold, injectors, and tune. I am on a budget but I also dont want this to fall apart in 1,000 mi. Any info on this as to where to get parts, or some tricks of the trade or what not would be greatly apreciated. And sry for the long post, didn't want to leave anything out. Thanks

keep it basic.
if you can get used named stuff.
log mani
t3t4 57
2.5 d.p.
older 35mm tial, or newer 38mm gate
bov
go to a decent muffler shop and get 2.5 exh
dsm injectors 450's or 55o's if you cant find them, plus the 550's are saturated, no need for a resistor
walbro pump
fasturbo feed and return kit
find a tuner that can do crome
keep the tune safe, boost at 8-10 psi, have at it.
the bad thing is, does your clutch have that many miles on it?
you may need a small upgrade there.

Re: My first boost project! (boostedcivicsir)
Thanks for the help. It is a 90 DA and I already have 2.5" exhaust from the cat to the axle and then 2 1/4" from there back. I know that sounds retarded but I put a flow master kit on it and that is what they sent me with a no return policy. But anywho, did u mean a t3/t4 turbo with a ar trim of 57. The turbo numbers are still new to me. And I have an aftermarket clutch its not name brand but I have had good luck with it so far. It is a stage 1 XTD clutch, it only has a couple thousand on it but it is still holding strong and has with-held a beating. Thanks for the help and any more advice before I tackle this would be greatly apreciated. Thanks again.

Re: My first boost project! (wernhersey)
heres a setup i put together for a few weeks last year. ive had many turbo cars/setups and the response and smoothness of this one impressed me a lot
bone stock ls motor
dsm 450 injectors / walbro 255
2.25 intercooler pipe
johnny race car intercooler
ccfab haggard *** not so equal length manifold
tial 38mm
3" dp and full 2.5" exhaust no cat
t3t4 57 trim with .48 exahust
street tuned to 10 psi on uberdata, around 19* total timing and low 11s afr
i loved it. i had 10psi between 3500 and 3800 rpms, and shifted at 7400. lots of area under the curve.

That just about sums up what I have been reading thanks for the advice. I am definitely going with used name brand.

If you get an ebay cast manifold, make sure you clean up the inside crap left over from the casting. WHP and 1/4 mile times are in my sig using both items on my setup. Also, i get no boost creep issues with the manifold. (using a Tial 38mm WG w/ a Halman MBC)

Hey thanks man, My last statement wasn't exactually true. I do plan on getting a ebay intercooler and possibly a manifold. Im not 100% tho. Thanks for the input.

Is it ok to use ebay BOV?
Which parts require good stuff? Turbocharger, wastegate, preferably good log manifold, Walbro fuel pump, DSM injectors
