Default My engine has been sittin on its side (exhaust ports) for about 6 months....is that bad?

like the topic says, ive had my engine back from the machine shop for 6 months and its been in storage sitting on the exhaust ports, on its side, not straight up like in a car. Is this ok, or is this bad for the rings? Its a fully built block and head.

Thanks guys

is it fully assembled etc? I dont see how it could be bad, might want to throw a few drops of oil around the pistons through the plug holes and turn it by hand, that way you wont get a dry start

If they 'winterized' it with fogging oil to keep it from rusting, there should be no issues with rusting. The only other problems could be from assembly oils slowly seeping past the rings, and collecting in the cylinder. If it was mine, I'd put an capfull of oil in each cylinder, then turn it over a few times with the plugs still out. 6 months is enough for a shortblock (no head) to start rusting, but not a longblock. Worst case, the two with open valves (if at the right crank angle) would have some light rust in them.
