Default My D16Z6 Setup...sound ok for homeade?

Here's the setup I will be installing on my D16Z6 CX hopefully this coming weekend.

D16Z6 about 95k miles
Garrett T25 turbo .48 a/r
2.5 in charge piping
Jhonny Race front mount intercooler 5in.
Vortech 12:1 FMU
Walbro 255 inline fuel pump
Stock injectors (I have DSM 450cc's but will install them when I get hondata)
Braided Oil feed and return lines (thanks stan)
Greddy Downpipe
Manual boost controller (no name)- Friend used it on his turbo ITR and said it worked great
Apexi turbo timer
HKS SSQ bov
Mobil 1 10w30 synthetic oil
HF manifold w/adapter plate
Missing link
Turbonetics couplers and T-bolt clamps

And that's about it unless I forgot something, i'll be sure to let everybody know how it goes. I would like to get 160-170 out of this setup, but after I get it tuned i'll see where it lands me. I'll keep it around 6-8lbs of boost.

thats close to my setup , it runs great, your fixin' to get the whole lose the fmu, missing link bash. get some arp head studs ,well worth the 90-100 $ and pretty easy install. does your turbo have water line inlet n' outlet, if so run em it will help w/ coking the oil in the turbo. of course your running the timer. good luck .

very similar to our set up also,t25 on a y7/z6 mini me,runs great.turbo is a perfect size, spools very fast and holds solid 12 psi as long as i stay in it.get the arp's,$80 on e bay and they will save you from having to get a new headgasket soon.

Yea the turbo does have the water inlet/outlet. I was told that it's a pain in the *** to install it and not worth it in the end. But most likely I will run the lines anyways because I worked to damn hard to just throw my money away like that. I'll also look into the ARP headstuds, thanks everybody for the comments and advice.

you dont need to run oil and water; you can run just the oil by itself no problems

and ditch that piece of **** fmu... get some real fuel management

What fuel management do you suggest I use that I can use on this setup and a future setup when I get my B16?

hondata s200b , many will say uberdata which would not be a bad option and its hella cheap compared to the hondata, as long as you can tune it. hondata is just my preference.

Well I guess i'll save up and buy a used hondata s200b management system. Why is it that some people preferer uberdata over hondata? For the people that are using it is it more because of the price, or more because of the tuneability?

uberdata
hondata is a huge ******* waste of money.......

if you're that worried about getting your car dyno'd most places can tune uberdata just as good as hondata....

**** hondata; save yourself some serious money by saying **** hondata too

I personally am not familiar with uberdata...which uberdata unit is best to go w/when boosting? There's a local shop called balance performance that can tune just about anything, i'm sure they are able to go through uberdata also. What do they usually sell for?

haha; wow...

maybe you are better off buying hondata

uberdata is diy obd1 tuning software; pick yourself up a compaitlble obd1 ecu (most all are) find an eprom burner; buy some roms; download the software for free; set you up a basemap and get it tuned.

in the mean time go to http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata/

I had the same manifold/ turbo/ engine setup a while ago. ran it at 9.5psi for a while on the AFC hack. I liked the quick spool but the power was almost too responsive and the upper rpm flat spot made rowing throught the gears kind of disapointing. I would strongly recomend not going any smaller than a 50trim straight T3. They can be found for under $100 and have tons of upgrade parts avalible. And yes Uberdata is one of the best things to ever happen to ODB1 hondas.

I would love to learn how to tune my car myself using uberdata. I will do a little research and look into it, and perhaps join the uberdata crew. And I am obd1

ditch the FMU side..
and u better off running VAFC hack at least until u get uberdata going on

u dont wanna lean that motor and loose all the hard work

i am running the hack until i get the turboedit dynotuned, and it works great for now...

i had the t3 50 trim on my sohc vtec. it was perfect- full boost of 6 psi at like 3100 rpm in 3rd( ithink).

uberdata is definately the best way to go for managment for the price. even the uberdata basemap that i made had its a/f ratios in the mid 11's under full boost, which is fine by me for a basemap, and its got a timing retard feature, to be even more safe then an fmu.

Just curious on which type of spark plugs I should use w/my setup, what are your suggestions?

On another note I was told that I most likely wouldn't see 200HP using this GarrettT25? Is there any truth in that statement even though i'm only looking to get around 160-170?

Even if you want 160whp go with the 45, 50 or 60 trim T3. like I said, the power will build up to redline rather than fall off up top. I have a 50trim T3 and I just noticed today (no air filter now ) I get 10psi at 2700 in 5th. Easily hung with a 600cc street bike today from 50 to 130 with a 40 dollar t3. For some reason I get off on that.

oh ya, just get a set of NGK BKR7Es. they are like 9 bucks and work great in most B and D series turbos. gap to .028"
