In my opinion you'll be better off using the stock crank over the knife edged crank. It may cause you to drop out of boost quite quick when you let your foot off the throttle. Also from what i've been told it can increase crankshaft harmonic's which will contribute to fast main bearing wear (maybe someone else can chime in and give more info). Take a good look into it before deciding whether or not its for you as its something you may regret.

What have you decided to gap the rings at ? You can get replacement files for cheap off Jeggs if that one is no use. Make sure you file them the correct way to. I can't remeber if its inwards of outwards...

I would also agree with this. Knife edging a crank is great for maximum power applications where rebuilding is done at least once per season. On a daily driven street/strip type of build I would always go with a stock crank. Lighter pistons, rods and flywheel are "better" places to remove weight for performance gains and longevity.

Im going to set the top ring at a .018" and the 2nd ring at a .021" this should be good for 12-18psi of boost. I also ordered a brand new ring file last night, so I'll try again on the rest of the rings as soon as I get it.

Isn't it fun using old dull tools? LOL, I had that problem on my d16 build. Good luck man, and I want more updates. I need to show off my GSR build when she's done

If thats what you feel confident with then go for it .

I'm sure that knife edged crank would make a great ornament for somewhere in the house lol.

Loads of people do. Just not many for your application/use. For a all out NA track car i'm sure it would work well.

Lots of people will want that knife edged crank and be willing to pay for it but few understand what it's really meant for.

I allways use the factory OEM ring placement over aftermarket recomendations I was allways taught to never put a ring gap inline with the pins...

I guess its a little late to tell you, but most H-beam rods have a smaller big end and usually requires honing the big end out slightly to get your desired clearance. This is common for the h-beam rods
