Default MSD coil question..

ok, i did the internal to external coil swap on my boosted h22... last night i was driving it and all of the sudden it started to sputter and crap itself... and i coasted to stop... one of the two trigger wires (the wire htat runs to the black/yellow wire on the dizzy) on the MSD coil was toast it melted right down to the bare copper... i think i rubbed a hole in the coating and shorted the thing out... is that possible? what gauge wire to you guys run for those to little trigger wires?
