MSD BTM How much timming retard?
I've been running 7psi of boost on a stock B16A2 for a year and a half. I am using a SMC+ and a MSD BTM for "tuning" .
When I installed the BTM (when I installed the turbo kit) I just set it at 1deg/psi and never touched it again ever since.
I guess I am late but I was wondering what kind of timming retard I should have. Is 1deg/psi enough with stock compression running only 7psi of boost?
I never had a single problem with my car but still... better safe then sorry.

With the higher compression of the B16, I might be inclined to start with a 2-4 degree base distributor retard and go to .25-.75 per psi on the BTM.
It's the transition into boost that gets really jacked up with SMC/AFC hack. Right where the BTM is doing nothing. That's the reason for the base retard.
