most important gauges...
Boost
EGT
Fuel psi if you have an adjustable FPR
AF meter Greddy at the least but the Techedge DIY AF meter is the bomb!
With the combo of a AF meter and EGT you can trouble shoot any problem with ease. AF meter for datalogging/tuning and the EGT would be used the car as an indicator.
AF meter sensors have to be changed every 1k miles. Damn, I guess I better tell my friend who has been using his SARD for 3 years to change his sensor (sarcasm)...
The SARD is a non-peak/hold version of the Greddy that has been around for 10 or more years.

If you have the money and space get it because oil psi is very important on VTEC motors.
I have a mini fuel psi meter on my FPR, Defi EGT & Boost and a Greddy AF meter that will get replaced as soon as my Techedge AF meter arrives. Oil psi, oil temp, cockpit fuel psi and water temp will be added when I get my Stack8130. AF meter will be placed in a concealed compartment for tuning use only and the boost/EGT will be visible gauges that stand out.

We're only talking about boosted applications, and in-car gauges only, right? and not the gauges in the OE cluster.
My opinion:
Oil Pressure: Not needed! OE gauge cluster has a low oil warning. Most want a gauge for Oil Pressure to see if VTEC will activate, thats fine in emergency situations. But by all means you should have the engine warmed up before you do anything! There is adequate oil pressure to activate VTEC if you warmed up first. So, IMO Oil Pressure is not needed.
Water Temp: Not needed! Why would you want to reading exact water temperature?. OE cluster has a gauge. As long as your a little bit below half on the OE gauge, its good.
Wideband: is needed to tune the car (partial throttle especially). You can go to your local dyno to tune with a wideband sniffer (not every dyno has one$$$). Sometimes a car will typically run 0.3:1 to 0.5:1 leaner off the dyno. Reason being.. dynos dont accurately represent real world conditions.
0.5:1 change in A/F can mean a lot more power. So, you might want to get your own wideband. Or...
EGT: If you dont have a wideband, this is good to have.
Boost: can creep, so watch out!
So, in conclusion.. You gotta have boost gauge, but which do you guys think is most important: Wideband or EGT?

OEM idiot lights are crap! They do not indicate anything until a problem has a OCCURRED. With an aftermarket meter (Oil psi/water temp) you will see the problem as it occurs. Come on now! Do little more research before posting your opinions.
You left out your twisted opinion on fuel psi, fuel level, oil temp, blinker fluid level, speedo, reverse indicator, tire wax level, pimpology indicator...hehehehehe

Well, I guess you can get Oil psi/water temp if you think your OEM idiot lights are crap!
