I got the compressor wheel nut off however the cold side compressor wheel isnt bugging or sliding off at all. here is a pic. Really trying to get this sucker sent off to get balanced, please help guys.

I dont wanna bend the shaft but i tried turning the compressor wheel's nut to free it up (while the hot side is in a vice) feels like im going to break something (kinda like when a bolt is frozen and you still turn it and it breaks) so i stopped.

It is a left handed thread, so righty lossy lefty tighty.

I already had taken the little 10mm 12 pt nut off that way, are you saying the turbine wheel is threaded and needs to be be taken off like the 12 pt nut??

no its not but it is a tight fit. Try lightly tapping the shaft from the inlet side to the exhasut side with both nuts off.

Youre going to have to hit the shaft with a hammer lightly to try to get it going. The turbine wheel is part of the shaft, and will not come off separately.

Thanks for the help so far but Im alittle confused, you mean the hot side wheel is not coming off, but the cold side wheel does come off correct?

Yes, exactly, I usually leave the hot side wheel on and score the nut on the inlet side and take that nut off, then lightly tap the end of the shaft from inlet side to exhaust side with a rubber mallet or something along that line. You shouldn't have to hit it to hard. Once it starts going through you could probably wiggle the wheel off.

the end of that compressor wheel has a nut cast into it, so clearly its threaded to the shaft...

what turbo are you trying to rebuild?

That nut is not casted into it.

I was able to remove it finally by tapping with a hammer then when i got close to the wheel i used a punch to finish removing the shaft. Its on its way to GPop Shop now Thanks all for the help.

Gpop Shop would have rather you sent the turbo whole to them. There are many a turbo rebuilder that don't like "help" from the customer to take the turbo apart when its shipped to them. It doesn's save any labor time, and you may have damaged something that could have been reused.

yeah dont recomend hitting the shaft end with a hammer anymore peopl. this is how you ruine the threds by mushrooming the end of the shaft. you dont do it on axles why do it ona tiny turbine shaft end. I hope a rubber or plastic mallet was used.

plastic mallet (i ment to say that) was used and it didnt shroom up so threads and tip are safe and still good, i was worried about that at first to, however nothing else worked.
