why 80 for the second stage?

wouldn't you want to progressivly up the amount of "shot" during the run.??

I agree, 80 for launch, 120 once you have traction.

in that picture the butterfly plate is removed. I did do some modification to the top piece of the manifold, the plenum volume is greater and the runners are shorter. I dont have any before or after dynos but it might work.

here is one with the modified plate in

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Dturbocivic &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">why 80 for the second stage?

adding 80 to 120 during the pass is upping the shot during the run.

120 for first and second gear and 200 for 3rd and 4th.

I guess you could do it either way, the reason im doing this way is that I had good traction with the 120 shot and I havent broken any axles yet. Im adding a 80 shot and the second stage because I dont want to have to start to learn the car over agian. Id just like to contiunure where I left off and add the 80 shot for 3rd and 4th gear.

I think that if I use the 80 shot for the launch it might cause the car to hook too hard and break axles. right now I have decent 60f times with mild tire spin in first and second gear.

Im not sure if the motor will even last the first pass with both stages, but there is only one way to find out and thats what Im going to do.

good stuff man........please post any updates on your car, there aren't too many guys around that are serious about nitrous

i'm also in the middle of building a nitrous car and am debating on using a progressive controller or going multi-stage, so i'm really interested in seeing how this setup works out for you.

would you mind elaborating on how you launch the car, what size tire, etc?

Make sure you tune the shots seperately....

Tune the 1st Stage, then tune the 2nd stage by itself...

After you add them together, the 2nd stage is going to run alittle rich...because of the bottle pressure falling. Slowly lean out the 2nd stage until the plugs look good.

Do you have sperate timing control for the 2nd stage?

Im using M&H 25x8.7x13 slicks. Msd digital 6 igniton for launch control and timing retard.

I preload the drivetrain, I get on the twostep (6500rpm) and go 95% throttle, I drop the hand brake and get off the two step and go full throttle and ride out the clutch. Ive only done 10 passes so far with nitrous so Im still getting the hang of launching the car. My last pass was the best so far.

thanks for the info,

I was going to retard the total timing for the first stage and use my msd retard for the second stage. Im launching on the nitrous so Im not sure if I need a second timing controler untill I use a 3rd stage.

Please don't tune a 10 second car by reading the plugs.

Yeap, I know that he can't read AFRs to the tenth from pulling plugs.

Go tell the Pro-Mod guys they don't know howto do Nitrous tuneups.

For your information:

Nitrous ***** up AFR Readings, so Widebands are worthless except for the motor tuneup. The ONLY way to do a good nitrous tuneup is reading the plugs. It will show your your timing and fuel tuneup. EGT's work to a certain point, but retarded timing can skew the feedback from EGTs. I've seen people who are 10:1 AFR ona Wideband and blow the engine up...

Your welcome...

I dont realy know the ring gaps, Im the second owner of this motor and from what I uderstand the motor was built to factory specs. The jets are whats recommended from NOS, For the 120 shot its 24 and 18 and for the 80 shot its 22 and 16, one uses a soft plume nozzle and the other in anular.
