misfiring after putting in a MSD
I recently bought and installed a MSD 6AL to go a long w/ my stock coil and Magnacor 8.5 wires. I got the MSD to get that extra spark to make sure I burn everything in the combustion chamber. I'm running the Greddy turbo kit.... and the Greddy blue box. Well, I had no problems with the turbo kit, but I decided to install a MSD since it seems to be the "right" thing to do when giong FI. Anyways, since installing the MSD (I followed the instructions from MSD and various forums that showed detailed instructions i.e. C-speedracing.com), everything seemed good and dandy until I got stuck in traffic. Being in lower gears and low RPMS, my car started to bog really hard. It got to the point in which my car sounded like a WRX, engine vibrating roughly, idle real low... to the point of stalling, and suddenly throwing CELs. My car struggled getting back home... barely getting up to 40 mph. Anyways, I got home and checked my code... and I'm showing MISFIRE codes 71, 72, 73, 74. I changed my plugs and checked all the wiring to make sure it was all good. I took the car out on a spin and all was well for about 15 minutes of driving. Then, my car starting bogging again.... losing power, feeling out of sync. I need help. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Sorry this post is so long.
I went to the dealership and got a new cap and rotor. I took out the MSD and set my ignition back to stock w/ the new cap and rotor. After everything hooked up, I started the car and it wass idling really rough, the engine was shaking.... the car just didn't sound healthy. I need help
I had the same problem recently. I un-hooked the MSD and the car ran fine. We determined it to be a bad wiring job. Check all your wires for secure connections and see if any bad connections are present.

Okay... I'm getting really frustrated. to update what I've done sine my original post.... I got new spark plugs, new cap, new rotor, and a new ignition coil. I took out the MSD to run on the stock ignition. I wired everything back to stock, installed all the new parts, double checked all my connections including the spark plug wires. Cranked the engine and the car had a difficult time starting but starts. The engine idles rough and sounds like it's gonna die. I need help. I'm thinking that it might be my ignitor. I'm thinking that the MSD might have burnt it out or something which would cause it not to produce the correct voltages in order to produce a spark. I checked my spark plugs and I can smell fuel on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
