Misc questions ...
Hi
I can only post 5 posts every 24 hrs so I will try and put all questions into one post
My engine/geaarbox supplier told me today that I must phone him on the 15th for a engine, it will be a B18C Japan spec engine, so I will put down a deposit then and receive it all in march
First is about oil cooling on the pistons, my uno motor has 2 small holes in the rod that squirs oil right onto the pistons for extra cooling, and looking at the toyota rods here they have the same principal
Anyone tried the slotting idea on a honda rod? I have not seen any piston cooling holes/slots in any of the aftermarket pistons.
Anyone using a dry sump system? Due to the honda engines turning the "wrong" way around, has anyone any idea on fitment...
I know ebay is not popular, but can you offer any opinions on the following:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...32208
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...19951
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...73480
How is the Japan spec B18C engine different from the US spec engines?
Anyone ever tried a Copper Intercooler?
Any comment appreciated!!
Cheers

do NOT drill holes in the rods for oiling of the piston skirts, your bearings will wear out very fast, probably under 1000 miles.
the only proper way to give piston skirts a good amount of oil, is tap an oil galley, and set up custom sprayers for each cylinder, or install ball and spring pressure type squirters in the main journals and use custom bearings.
if you use oil from the rods, it will starve them very quickly on a higher output motor, especially since the journals are not originally designed for turbo, and do not have a real large footprint.

Thanks
The Uno has this setup, I will just use the squirters from there.
If I use a high flow dry sump pump will this help instead of running custom bearings? I suppose I can have a look at everything when I get it though...

Well, unfortuantely, i do not have extensive knowledge of the actual layout of the bottom ends of The b18 series, im sure someone does though!
Someone can chime in here i know it!

Have a look at Pauter rods, they seem to have the oil grooves in them?
