Default Mechanical and Electrical gauge?

Whats the difference between a mechanical and electrical oil pressure gauge by autometer? Is there any differences in the way they are installed?

Yes, the mechanical actually involves you running a presurized oil line in the car to the gauge. The electric on uses a sending unit that is installed on the block and you only have to run a wire to the gauge. HTH

Electrical for ease of installation and Mechanical for accuracy.

i would use electrical. it does not feel safe to me to run a hot oil pressure line into the cabin.

Hence why most mechanical oil pressure gauges are said to be mounted near the wiper cowl, outside of the car.

Another thing to consider. Don't know if it is the same on all cars but with the Autometer electric sending unit that screws onto the block, you will not able to use Honda OEM oil filters. No clearance. FRAM works though.

i'd recommend not even screwing that sender onto the block itself. since ur gonna need to T off anyway for ur oil feed line, just run a line from the stock pressure sender location to a tee and mount that with the sender on the tee on the firewall somewhere. then u can use watever filter u please and not worry about cracking the back of the block
