Default mbc or ebc?

im thinking about getting a manual boost controller but im also open to getting the electronic boost controller. im guessing its just a matter of preference but i would like to know the pro's and cons of both along with some reccomendations. i was looking at the hallman manual boost controller and also the apexi avcr EBC but any input from the community would be great. thanks guys

What engine management are you using?

I would go with a boost solenoid that is controlled directly by the ecu.

IMO you can't beat it. It is cheap and can do everything a EBC can do.

If you can get traction in 1st gear with your target boost/power level, an EBC is kinda pointless. Some MBC's can result in boost drop, creep, or odd spikes when the WG opens. EBC's will eliminate those, assuming it's set up correctly.

One nice thing about EBC's is gear-based boost, so you aren't spinning in 1st/2nd, and have tons of power in higher gears. This allows you to run for example: 7psi in 1st, 10psi in 2nd, 15psi in 3rd, and 20psi in 4th/5th. How many Hondas do you know could go WOT in 1st and not spin with 20psi??

Given how visual the options are on the EMS-based EBC's, IMO they are the way to go. S300, Neptune, and eCtune all allow this built-in with their software.

I guess I'm old school with it. I'm using the apexi AVCR. it has boost by gear, boost by speed, boost by RPM, and scrabble boost on tap. I like it but not very user friendly if you want to use all those features.

Gear based boost is really the major selling point for EBCs.

Pronouns can be deadly when there's no clear antecedent "What" are you refering too?

BTW I really wouldn't recommend AEM unless you need the coil-on-plug and crank trigger stuff that all-out 700whp+ racers sometimes use. For other cars its worth it, but doller per feature, it is not the best system for Hondas.

You will need a wideband oxygen sensor gauge along with a boost solenoid for aem ems.

Wow, really? Please tell me you're not tuning this car yourself.

You will need a solenoid and you will need to wire it into the ECU as per AEM's instructions.
