Default maybe a dumb question...

Ok I am fabricating my own turbo setup, and will be using uberdata for engine management. I won't be tuning myself, since I don't feel comfortable with the idea of doing it. I am only looking for about 250-300whp at the most on my b16, and was curious if when tuning are cam gears needed?

Cam gears are definately a good investment to have. On some engines they are good for quite a bit of power and some just like being set at 0. I would recommend getting them and your tuner will be able to see if he wants to adjust them!

Good Luck

Not trying to argue here but I think stock cam gears would be the best cuz aftermarket camgears tend to slip and chaarannnn vent valves yehey but it up to u

How can anyone take you seriously when they can't understand what you just typed.

Cam gears would be a good idea, you just want to make sure to get ones like Skunk2 that have 6 bolts over cheaper ones that have say 3. My venom has 4, and I've never had issues with it (SOHC). They allow you to work with the timing of your cams which is something that uberdata will never be able to touch.

I run can gears but get ones that have al least 4 bolts to hold them in place. I think the aem ones only have 3 bolts. My Golden eagle ones have 4 bolts and some have 6 i think. I would recommend to torque them to specs and use lock-tite also to be on the safe side.

Cam gears are not needed. We make well over 650 whp on our car and we do not adjust the cam timing at all. I have had Skunk2 cam gears slip on the intake side and bend some valves before, anything is possible even with parts that are considered high quality. When racing, anything can happen even with top $ parts.

well now ya got me thinking. I think as soon as I figure out whose tuning the car, I will take the tuners advice. Might as well make it as best I can for how that person tunes.
