Default Maximum Boost heh...

I am reading Maximum Boost, by Corky Bell, and i had to share something with you all.

There is a "BOLDED" Rule that looks like this, inbetween two paragraphs where he explains the PLAN and how to get power out of it.

RULE: Turbos make torque, and torque makes fun.

Maybe its not that funny, but i found it amusing.

Great book btw.

Haha... yeah, he seems like a cool enough guy...

some of the comments he makes in that book are pretty funny.

Good book too...

I learned a lot from it!

Ha.

I don't remember this exactly, but my favorite comment is the one that's something like: "Rule: If you have no lag, you have no turbo; you also have no huge torque increase to look forward to."

Damn, I had to break it out to find more. hahah

"OEM's will generally provide you with a vehicle that functions nicely, but is blessed with enough shortcomings that performance is far from optimum"

"All kit makers will try to represent their systems as the most powerful. Absolute power is the last reason to make a decision"

"A water injector on a turbo car is a poor excuse band-aid for not doing the job correctly the first time."

"Back pressure in an exhaust system is evil"

"Power loads generally won't tickle the engines structure's tummy"

Ok, so I'm bored. Sue me.

95% of the book= somewhat funny and a very informative read. However as is too often the case, his ego distortes the facts. Like how he completly bashes draw through turbo setups and water injection. Dead wrong in that respect. Otherwise

I like the one where he talks about how people complain about lag, then he reminds everyone that with a turbo, you might have a little lag, with a huge power increase to look forward to. While if you have an n/a car, you have lag, with no power increase to look forward to.

Great book, great author. I like the fact that he doesn't sugar-coat his opinions, he just says what he means. A must-read for any turbo-noobie
