Re: Who passes emissions? (StrokedPSI)
91 CRX HF, 97 B18B, my boost code / turboedit editing. ~2weeks driving aroudn with wideband after work. Lean it out, check plugs, etc. etc. Took *forever* to tune the car (didn't have datalogging - made for quite a pain) but basically just tuned AFRs a little on the lean side, jacked timing significantly.
passed about 35-38% below limit in HC, 50% below limit for CO, 19% below limits for NOx.
Charge pipes were connected, car was fully warmed up, no funny business on test. Hit rollers for Ohio E-check.
Oh yeah, NO CAT either. Just had the heat shield tack welded on there so it "looked" like I had a cat.
Moral of story: TUNING, TUNING, TUNING and MORE TUNING!

Re: Who passes emissions? (StrokedPSI)
Emissions ***** just hit western NC, apparently we have smog almost as bad as the Bay Area in Cali, and for the same reason - mountains act like a boundary that hold the smog in.
I've been assured by the local emissions testing facility that if I have all my emissions equipment, and pass the sniffer (hard to fail if AFRs and timing are correct on a decent engine, even without a cat), they won't care about the turbo. Your local authorities may say otherwise.
I'm planning stock exhaust and cat with an LS1 75mm TB as an M-cutout, btw. That E-cutout junk breaks and doesn't want to seal... I figure I can do better.

Re: Who passes emissions? (blundar)
Nice, no cat too
Makes you wonder why they even put them on cars when they could just properly tune them at the factory.

Good AFR's and a cat that you can pop in for the test and you should be set. The emissions tests are at 15 and 25 mph...unless you have a tiny turbo, they won't be going into boost.
Here in GA most of the people I've dealt with at the testing stations don't know a turbo from a water pump...and if they do they don't realize it doesn't come stock on a Honda.

Re: Who passes emissions? (StrokedPSI)
I can't pass here in Massachusetts due to the frikkin OBD2 computer check.
There is no visual inspection to speak of. OBD1 just has to pass on a dyno here. OBD2 just has to pass the computer check, no dyno, no sniffer, but I can't pass.
AFC hack throws code 13, AEM EMS (just got it!) is not OBD2.
I've been rolling on a rejection sticker for 5 months now.

fully built 9.0:1
18G running 15psi
Hondata s200b
test pipe modified to look like a cat
Usually they don't even test my car (Maryland) since it is lowered, but the last time they made me get up on the rollers. And I passed with flying colors.

Emissions tests are applied to closed loop idle and cruising conditions. Under WOT there are no emissions specifications. If they are spooling your turbo, then they aren't testing what they are supposed to.

Just out of curiousity, what were the actual numbers?

Re: Who passes emissions? (raene)
30in -> 22in 16 AFR
22in -> 16in 15 AFR
then pretty much linear slide to 13.0 at 0psi
linear slide to 12.0 at 10psi
~45-46 degrees total timing at cruise, ~29 degrees total timing @WOT @peak tq, 4 degree pickup total past it. No retard at all until 4psi or so, then stepped to end up around 20-22 degrees total timing at 10psi.
I'll post the HC, CO, NOx count when I get home. I still have the e-check sheet.

Re: (blundar)
So nobody has past OBD2?
I have another year but my 98 needs OBD2 plug check.
I am thinking changing back to stock injectors (would flood 550 RC's with stock ECU) and dropping the P72(OBD2) back in place of the Hondata just for that run with 0psi boost of course.
I have all my sensors wired and working so it shouldn't throw any codes...cross my fingers.

Re: Who passes emissions? (J. Davis)
i took everything off..put the stock intake and exhaust manifold on then plugged off the oil lines using a -3an plug for the feed and a -10an for the return... I passed with flying colors in california..

Re: (DaX)
I pass in GA fine. Then again, i am running the blue box & 310s for now. I just throw the stock cat on, reset my ecu, and go through a drive cycle and hitup the emissions place... no sniffer tests or anything, just plug into the obd2 interface.
