Default Why No Torque?

Okay, I got kind of a technical question for everyone. My buddy has a 1.8T Jetta and chipped it has ~240ft/lbs tq. This is stock, with about 14lbs of boost. How come our cars, with only .2 liters difference, max out at like just over 200 ft/lbs. Someone on here has an Si with a built engine and vortech supercharger with ~14lbs boost, and he's happy with just over 200tq. Does .2 liters really make that much difference or is there something else wrong with us?

yea the extra .2 of displacement makes a diff, and a larger one if you are running some sort of boost. Boosting 14lb is almost doubling the atmospheric pressure, so it could net about twice the amount of torque.

a 1.8l engine has umm... I'm guessing ~120ft-lb or torque? 14lb boost would net near the 240 figure you have.

a 1.6l civic engine is ~110?? double that w/ 14lb of boost, minus the power used to drive the SC you get about 200ft-lb.

it's not all about the displacement size of the engine, it's the stroke that it produces and the way the crank and the cam duration's are in it. it's a turbo motor stock, FI with a good long stroke and with the cam duration and lifts, compare all those specs and see what ya get and there's ur answer
