Map sensor quick question
I have a home-made sheet metal intake on my motor with a 68mm str TB. The placement on the str TB for the MAP sensor is threaded and I did not get the piece that threads into it. So obviously I could not put my 3 bar into a threaded hole, so I teed it off my fuel pressure regulator. I have searched and seen several members on here do the same. Will I run into any issues with the MAP like this? I am currently having some issues getting the car to idle correctley. If I don’t feed it gas constantly it will stall. Does anyone think that the MAP could be causing this?

many people who use a 3 bar simply T it off their IM somehow(I have mine T'd inline with my BOV connecting to my Victor X IM)... this shouldn't be your problem.
Idle fluctuations could be caused by many different problems. Has your car been properly tuned with a stand-alone?

No, but it has a basemap loaded. I wouldn't even call it an idle fluctuation. Basically, if you don't pump the throttle, it will stall. Once the motor gets past 2k, it runs like a champ. I am going to check that out this weekend, seems like theres a vac leak although I can not find it. I still need to check the gaskets though.

Big TBs are very sensitive to TPS adjustment. Pedal feels dead until you've pushed it down a little ways, then the engine suddenly jumps to life with a harsh transition? TPS, bro.

Yeah that sounds pretty much like what it does. What do you think I need to do?

Raise your TPS voltage until the engine stops bucking on tip-in, then set idle by cracking the throttle plate with the set screw on the STR. I'm guessing you have no IACV. You've got the 70mm STR, yes? I have one on a customer's car here at the shop atm, had to do just that to it today. Previously, it was a nightmare of bucking and hitching when driving in traffic in low gear, with engine itermittantly dying.

It is the 68mm and yes there no IACV anymore. Two questions: Where is the screw on this particular TB? How do you raise the voltage on the TPS?
Thanks for your help.

the screw to adjust the throttle plate on the str throttle body is the little black allen head set screw.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah its not that big of a deal for me since it is not a street car and it does sould mildly cool. It is just kind of a pain in the *** getting on the trailer b/c I need to use the e-brake to keep it from stalling and rolling back.

hondata s200 w/precision 880cc. It will be tuned later this month, but now it just has a basemap loaded. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

definitly, the basemap probably needs minor adjustments to get it just right. i know my car ran alot better down low/part throttle/light load after it was tuned.
