Default Manual or Electronic Boost Controller........Boost Spike?

I was talking to this guy at one of my local shops. He was trying to convince me to buy a manual boost controller because he said to me that all the electronic boost controllers are more likely to spike. He said manual boost controllers are less likely to spike because of their "manual design" design.....Ive heard way different from what that guy told me..........can someone clear this up for me

Thanks guys

I wouldn't spend money on an electronic one, unless it had gear dependant boost settings...I have heard of manual boost controllers having spiking problems though, but I've run two different style; inline ball and sping and air tool pressure regulator. For less than $50 you can put together your own boost controller using a pressure regulator and pressure relief valve that will allow you to diddle with spool-up time, boost peak (spike) and top of gear boost. search http://www.autospeed.com for "pressure regulator s4"...
