mig or tig is fine...16 to 18 gauge is adequate

Down pipes are pretty forgiving.. if its stainless I would tig it.

I like to tack the bends together with a MIG while mocking the downpipe up on the engine. Once everything fits to my liking I have it TIG welded. The TIG yeilds nice looking, strong welds, and smaller profile welds.

quick question...
dubyaAye has the 5 bolt turbo and 5 bolt flange...
the turbo i purchased has a hole on the turbo...next to the compressor wheel...
probably for the internal wastegate....

can i just make my downpipe with the flange just covering the hole... ?

or

do i need to put a piece of metal to weld it closed

thanks

yep just cover it up and weld away. 3 in is a tight fit on there. you get pretty close to the edges, but you should be cool. i just migged mine up last week and for the hour my car ran, it worked great
good luck
