The deck higth on a b16 is shorter than the b18c or the b18a/b.. If you wanna do this your gona need some ls rods, custom pistons and a bore over.

If I were building a stroked B16 I would use B16 or B17 length rods, not LS length ones. I'll take a "worse" rod/stroke ratio with some supposed performance losses over having the piston pin completely through the oil ring with known oil control issues.

if you sleeve it with an ERL sleeve, you can get one of their Superdeck2 blocks with the LS crank, LS rods, LS pistons and have a 2.0L engine.
I have a ERL superdeck 2 with GSR crank, rods, pistons giving me 1.93L.
while deckplates got a bad name many moons ago, thier process of pressing thier deckplates into the block is pretty amazing. A few of us run thier blocks without any issues.

yea earl promotes 700 hp benson blocks where erl blocks can handle more power. But its all about your goals and how u want to get to them.

its the difference between getting 2.0L and goign 1.7L as well. I actually had a gsr block i sold to ERL and bought a b16 superdeck from them that one of their employees was selling. I ended up paying less than it would even cost to sleeve my block but got a new block with the deck plate. Plus since they warrenty everything they assemble, its nice having them 15 miles away from my house.

Check out my sig. ask for Josh and he will take care of you! They are one of the biggest ERL dealers on the east coast with amazing turn around time. But best of luck with either route you goin wheather it be ERL or Benson.

thanks for the input guys. the goal is around 700whp (want to run 9s) I have talked to earl about the benson blocks and he says they will have no problems getting me there. but the erl blocks are looking like a good option as well
