LSD question: Momentary wheel slip
I have a problem stemming from the fact that my car is right on the edge of traction throughout first gear (jrsc at 10psi). The smallest dips or bumps in the road, or even painted crosswalk lines, cause me to momentarily lose and regain traction. The result is a very jerky ride throughout first gear, which is unpleasant and also probably not good for my car. Depending on bump/dip size, wheelspin can range from very fleeting to fairly significant.
Just to clarify, I am NOT talking about wheelspin off the line or wheel hop. This is a situation where I already have traction, but barely so.
So my question is, will an LSD help at all? My understanding of LSDs is that they are "reactionary" devices, and only help once a tire has been spinning (they do not actually prevent spin). As a result, I question whether or not they will have an effect on transitory issues like this.
If anyone feels that an LSD would help, please also tell me what type is best. I like quaifes because of their durability and non-intrusive behavior, but don't know about their characteristics regarding this issue.
