not sure about the kaaz, but i know you can get the quaife for about $800-$900...

i would expect the kaaz to cost a bit more since it's a clutch-type lsd...

and you usually can get the factory LSD for a few hundred...

Kaaz costs about $1000, it's possible to find it for about $800 if you are getting a hookup. But I don't have anything good to say about them, they are really just a pain in the ***. If you want I can go further in depth as to why...

The ITR LSD is a gear-based unit like the Quaife. As far as I know, all the Honda units are gear-type, not clutch-type.

while this may or may not be true, my friend's jdm itr tranny came with a clutch-type lsd... it was supposedly from the factory, but i can't say since he didn't open up the tranny...

My ITR LSD is JDM (if you can take that many acronyms at once), and it's the same gear-type that's found in the US model. I have heard of JDM gearboxes coming over with aftermarket parts in them before...

My mechanic had the Kaaz LSD on his 1996 H22 Prelude, he went through the proper break in, even sitting in a parking lot for more then an hour doing slow figure eights. (ie. this was a recommendation on the directions) Then after 500+ miles the thing still chattered like crazy when he made slow turns. So he reinstalled it, this time somewhat differently, but basically just changing the location a tiny bit. This didn't help the turning problem. Don't get me wrong, I have driven in vehicles that the chatter and turning vibration is minimal with the clutch type LSD, but this wasn't the case. And it was installed right, he worked for Honda for eight years and knows their trannies like the back of his hand. Then their comes the 5th gear grind, this was caused by having to use gear oil to lubricate the diff. What was happening is that the oil was obviously thicker, and 5th gear would get starved resulting in a grind and syncro wear. But I am not saying the thing wasn't sweet as hell from a stop or shifting into second when the tires want to break loose. The clutch pack LSD is by far the best for drag, and especially when you are putting alot of power to the ground. Hope this helps, not trying to hate. I just don't recommend Kaaz LSD's.

I had a phantom grip and now I am using a quaife...In a straight line the two were similar, but in the corners the quaife is 100% better
I think that having any type of lsd is better than the craptastic feeling of the "peg-legged" launch, especially in a fi front drive car.

I love the feel of the quaife in the turns.

yeah when i make slow turns, i have a chater, it sounds like broken axles almost, but that is only like in parking lots and such , not when your turning at higher speeds.

quaife is still better in the end due to the warrenty it has

ok, my friend's lsd probably is aftermarket then... i know his swap also even came with a hyper ground kit.

but i think it's pretty safe to say that a clutch-type lsd like kaaz would be too aggressive as a daily driver for someone without power steering...

I have heard about the chatter noise compliant for the Kaaz diffs. I don't believe them anymore, since mine chattered for the first 1000 miles, and now I never hear it anymore. It chattered so bad first pulling out of the lift, you thought the tranny was broke. Drove to the lot to do figure 8's, boy, was I dizzy after that! But, mine were by no means slow, turning in as sharp as you can at 20 km/hr makes the world go around pretty quick!

After break-in, we changed the oil and off I went. It chattered a lot when the tranny was cold, but now after I put miles on it, it doesn't even chatter when its cold.

I have no issues with gear grinds either, but I had the tranny built by Gear Speed, and they used carbon coated synchros, which slow the gears down quicker, to prevent gear grinds when shifting fast.

I truely love it! I'd probably say the only downside to a Kaaz is the gear oil changes every other oil change. With having a turbo, its just so nice not having torque steer anymore!
