Default Ls/Vtec Turbo??? Possible??

Well, My Ls/Vtec is complete, I was wondering if there is anyway to slap on a turbo to a Hybrid Ls/vtec motor w/o blowing it?? I have GSR head on my b18b block, Stock internals except GSR rods... Anything i should do to make the block stronger??? suggestions please, i want the turbo kit soon, THANKS in ADVANCED.

I'm finishing my ls/vtec and I plan on boosting. From what I've read and people I've spoken to, you should have no problem boosting. Just chose where you pull your oil from carefully. You don't want to lose pressure to your bearings or your head. Also it would be wise for the life of your engine (especially if you don't have the block girdle) to keep your revs under 8 grand. Size your turbo to peak power around 7k rpms and increase boost psi for more power. ie you'll run more psi to make the same pwr compared to those running the drag kit.

Oh yeah, you might wanna run the gsr oil cooler. If you do you'll need the back pipe as well. It's an easy swap.

Sorry I can't offer any first hand experience (yet)

Suggestiong for stronger block=block girdle. z10 or the gsr. It's cheaper to find a used gsr one and have it modified. You'll also need the gsr oil pickup and baffle plate/oil pan.

I had a friend that did the LS/Vtec Turbo thing. It was by far the fastest honda in town (st. louis). However, he did go through about 3 motors b4 he sold it, but man, was is fast!!

Just my little worthless commentary.

I think the better questions would be how much power can the block handle since different turbos will yield different hp#'s and thus have different cylinder pressure. This is our big disadvantage: all that cyl pressure from boost and the not so ideal r/s ratio will stress our sleeves. 320-350 seems to be the upper limit of our stock sleeves. With stock rods and pistons, you could go for this power, but if your detonating...
Get a stand alone.
Hope this helps and let me know how your adventures in FI go

Rigt now I am helping a build a B18A block w/ B16 Head on my buddy's car! We just dissasembled the motor and are sending the block to be resleeved. We are going to stroke the motor to a 2.0L. It should be pretty mean with his RevHard Stage II Kit that he already has on his B16. We will be modifying the turbo kit and will also getting a stand alone system!

Not trying to flame, but if you're resleeving why not resleeve with a larger bore. This way you could set yourself up with the gsr r/s ratio, gridle, oil cooler, etc and be able to rev past 8 grand AND have about 2.0 L. BTW what's your goal with this beast?

You won't get the GSR r/s ratio by changing bore size. It is all about rod length and stroke of the crankshaft. If you want a 2.0L b-series, you are gonna have a shitty r/s ratio unless you put a deckplate on the block and get longer rods.

What I meant was get overbore b20 sized sleeves, grs crank, girdle, rods, oil cooler, and forged pistons and you will have a nice set up.
