Default ls turbo boost controller question

This summer i would like to turn the boost up on my LS and i was wondering if i have a 7lb extermal wastegate spring and i hook up a boost controller will i be able to boost more than 7lbs. So my question being does the wastegate spring regulate the max boost? Or if i hook a boost controller up and want to boost say 10lbs will i need to get a different spring?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

If you have a 7 lbs spring that will be the lowest amount of boost you can run. Once you get a boost controller you can turn it up to whatever you want.

i've heard that when using a boost controller, you can only boost about twice more than what your wastegate spring is rated for........?

Thats what I've heard also, but I had a 7psi spring and I was able to boost 23 psi no problem (dual stage turbo xs). I think that it pertains more to electronic boost controllers.

With just the standard mbc you can boost up to 12 lbs over you wastegate setting.
