Default ls turbo?

im building an ls turbo and got some questions. first i can decide what pistons to buy. I looked at srp pistons and found 9.2 and 8.5 compression ratios. I was wondering what you guys thought on the comp ratio and what psi they would be able to handle(with eagle rods). Also i can buy a cheap greddy turbo with and 18g. I am not familiar with the 18g. What is its max psi. Can it handle around 15 easily? Let me know what you think.

The 18g is what i have and i know it can handle 15psi easily, if a 14b can do it then a 18g can do it no sweat. as for the rods and pistons, they can handle at leats 400 hp if im not mistaken with that combo, if im wrong someone correct me. LS turbo is a nice setup, it is what i have and i love it, it is super reliable and makes good power and as i have said before i love the simplicity of NON vtec, im sure ill get flamed for that comment.

The b18B motor is the best honda motor to turbo.

hmm...if you don't plan on boosting too much...i'd go with the stock comp. pistons. I have 8.8:1 pistons and sometimes wish i had stock compression. this is cause i do a lot of everyday driving and the lower compression doesn't help at lower rpms...plus i would be making a little more power if i had a little higher comp. pistons. but to each his own.

what would a safe max boost be if i went with the 9.2 comp pistons. This will be a daily driver, but i also want to be in the 12's and hopefully 11's.

Sorry but, B18c > B18b, especially for a daily driver. Higher redline, better flowing head, better transmission. Tuning vtec isn't that big of a deal.

P.S. I drive a boosted LS

I drive a boosted LS as well and I would pick a B18C1 any day over my B18B if money were no option.

People have made well over 350whp on a bone stock LS head, PSI is not really relevant.

i'll give u the better flowing head which is the edge it has over the b18b... but i think the gearing in the ls tranny is better for once u get up to higher power levels, because of the taller gears...... only the type r tranny stock has an advatage over the rest of em....LSD.

and the ls motor stock can easily rev up to 7500-8000... just need to raise the rev limit...although the rod/stroke ratio is better for higher reving in the c motors...

ok port the head there goes the high flow advantage, upgrade the valve train there goes the redline plus if u blow a ls they are dirt cheap unlike a gsr motor
all these damn VTEC wars nobody on here can say that they like a ls setup more than the GSR without getting flamed by the VTEC guys

I got ls and it was turboed , it's just that i had some problems with my setup and i took the kit off so my engine doesnt pop. But i would take the vtec motor over it anytime. That is just my 2 cents on the topic.
