Default LS question

why is it that ppl are putting vtec on ls motors instead of buying gsr motors is it because of cost reasons or actually performance gains to me i just dont see the point. If torque is what gets you down the track quicker and most b series knock off torque around 6800-7500rpm (im guessing) why not just build the ls without vtec. instead just rebuild the head with springs, valves, guides, PNP, lighten rockers, and cams and from there build the block to handle around 25psi.

personally i like the gsr motor but for some reason im leaning towards building a LS for my current project. what do you guys think.

There it is, all 362 pages, it helped me alot on my build. It has everything from completely stock motors to fully built 600 hp ls's. Hope this helps.

P.S What are your goals for this setup?

my main goal is to build torque plain and simple but i want to be streetable not full out race i estimate that around 400-475 ft-lb of torque should get me in the low 11's or high 10's on a street car that weights about 1800-2800lbs havent deciding on how much reduction i wana do yet

you can build torque on any motor even a go kart its just taking your time besides i have a domestic that puts out 435 ft-lbs of torque already but its such a heaby beast so i want something nice and light without going diesel which is the best for torque. i figure at around 600-685hp that can put me in the 400 ft-lb torque area right
