Quick question: what is the difference between an LS/VTEC engine, and the GSR motor?

LS have larger displacement... thus better bottomend torque...

no.. not that either... C5's are more like a modified C1... LS has a 1797 cc engine while the GSR and Type R have a little smaller... CORRECT me if i'm wrong... anyone have the correct numbers?

LS VTEC is when you have an LS block and slap in on top either a b16 or a b18c1 head to have vtec. I don't have a clue about this set up but thats all I know. Search the board, I think its kinda costly.

It never came in a car its a hybrid swap. Put 2and 2 together. The LS you've got the torque. Add the VTEC and you have HP. So you have the best of both.

LS/VTEC = LS integra bottom end + B18c1(GSR)/B18c5(TypeR)/any head with v-tec.

Basically the term can also be seen as any non-vtec bottom end combined with any v-tec head. Top end (the area with the camshafts), bottom end (area with the crank/rods/pistons).

If any of the above information is incorrect or someone has a problem with the way I put it you can just call me @ 1-800-makealistandgiveittomypsychiatrist.

LS/VTEC = b18a/b18b block + dohc b-series VTEC head

CRVTEC = b20 block + dohc b-series VTEC head

LS/Vtec does not come in any stock cars. It's a kind of a hybrid.
It's when you add Vtec to your nonVtec engine (LS/RS/SE/GS engine).
I haven't looked much into this, but what you do is, swap out a few parts in an LS engine. Simply put, you put on a B16A(?)--not sure-- head on the LS engine. Of coarse it's a lot more complicated.

I gess the advantage of having LS/Vtec is that it's capable of the same output, if not greater than, that of a ITR. I've seen dyno charts of LS/Vtecs and they range anywhere from 160hp~200hp. Given that stock LS engines are 140hp, that's a pretty good increase.

Disadvantage of LS/Vtec's are that it's not reliable if not built correctly. It'll cost probably cost around ~$3500 if it's done by a reputable shop.

Sorry couldn't help you out that much, but I hope that now you know what you should search for.

That article was great!

Everyone talks about "the massive torque from the huge LS" "The best of both worlds" ? hah sounds like the story from a cheap f&cker who couldnt afford a B18c

lol its only 37cc's bigger than the GSR/ITR B18c(1,5) motors. 37cc's is not that much torque lol...
