LS or GSR?
I'm thinking about buying an Integra to turbo it but am not sure which I should start out with. GSR has more power to start, but with the higher compression and addition of VTEC might not be as smart as the LS (which might have a better tranny??)
If you had the choice between the two, for relatively same price, which would you go for?

Well if they are pretty much the same price I'd go w/ the GSR, if you can get an LS a decnet amount cheaper I'd go that route and sink the saved money into rebuilding the engine!!

LS because the block has a higher bore, lower compression and the tranny has longer gearing. You can always add a VTEC head later, or a B20 bottom end. and LS is cheaper.

whoa whoa whoa, LS has longer bore? LS and GS-R bores are identical, both measuring 81mm across, the LS has a longer stroke-- 89mm, GS-R is 87.5mm. I could get into talking about the LS having a greater side-load than the GS-R, but that's another story. Do you mean B20B/Z shortblock instead of the LS??? The B20B/Z Pistons (84mm) won't fit in any other B-series motor, the rest are 81mm, except for the B21A1, out of those 90-91 2.0si Preludes, which are oddly 83mm....
If you plan on driving it hard, get the LS-- they're A LOT cheaper to replace blocks, etc... But who wouldn't plan on driving it hard, you're turboing it for a reason, right? Go LS, it's more cost-effective. If you have ***** later, build a GS-R motor.
If it were me, I'd just get a '92+ Civic (non-4dr), buy a B20B/Z, and turbo that. Hey, gotta be different, right? If worse comes to worst, just use a LS block to replace the screwed up CR-V.
